Digitization of Army Geographical Agency tablets

Distribution of the 326 map sheets of the Army Geographical Agency and Greek water districts
The generation digital terrains which were necessary for mapping purposes was made possible by digitizing map sheets obtained from the Army Geographical Agency, which depict the Greek territory with its 14 Water Districts.
Information of constant nature were embodied in an 1:50.000 scale in the Greek Geodetic Reference System (EGSA 87), which contains:

  • Contour lines per 100 meters and in places with ground slopes less than 5% per 20 meters
  • Coastline
  • Primary and Secondary road network
  • Water stream network
  • Basins and subbasins
  • Measuring Stations
  • Wells
  • Geological characteristics
  • Housing
  • County limits
  • Channels
