Positioning of measuring stations with the use of Global Positioning System (GPS)
The majority of the NDBHMI stations were georeferenced using a Global Positioning System (GPS). A group of experts visited about 1500 stations belonging to the Participating services, in order to confirm the coordinates of their positions. The data were cross referenced, regarding their quality and reliability, with the available information for the stations and the administrative information that have a geographical dimension, were checked using spatial operands, before they were imported into the main geodatabase of geographical and descriptive information.
